Real Projects, Real Growth

Watch how our students turn financial concepts into practical ventures that continue making an impact months after program completion.

Building Something That Lasts

Our students don't just complete assignments. They build actual financial tools, community initiatives, and small ventures that keep running after graduation.

Take the budgeting app three students launched in October 2024. It started as a class project focused on helping young Australians track irregular income. Six months later, it has 2,400 active users and they're still updating it every month.

Or the community lending circle organized by another group. What began as a case study about alternative financing now operates in two Brisbane suburbs, helping 18 families access interest-free loans through peer support networks.

Following Up With Former Students

Jarrett Koskinen

Jarrett built a financial literacy workshop series for tradies during his final semester. What started as five Saturday morning sessions has turned into a regular monthly meetup in Canberra. He still runs them, though he now works full-time as a finance coordinator.

"I keep doing it because people actually show up. Last month we had 23 plumbers and electricians learning about tax planning. The concepts from class work just as well ten months later."

Saoirse Dempsey

Saoirse created a micro-investment guide for hospitality workers during her program. She's since turned it into a quarterly newsletter that reaches about 400 subscribers across Sydney and Melbourne. She updates it between shifts at her restaurant management job.

"The framework we used for the original project still guides everything I write. I just adapt it as the market changes. Three readers have told me they started investing because of it."

What Makes Projects Stick Around

Not every student project becomes a long-term thing, and that's fine. But the ones that do share some common patterns we've noticed over the past two years.

  • They solve a specific problem the student actually witnessed in their community
  • They're simple enough to maintain without a team or major funding
  • They use skills students can keep developing after graduation
  • They connect to networks students were already part of before starting our program
  • They provide value that people notice within the first month of operation
